Orange Street Church

Orange Street Church - en plein air watercolor landscape building painting by Frank Costantino

Nantucket, MA

Painted over the course of two mornings, this watercolor of Nantucket’s Unitarian Universalist Church captures the iconic profile of its golden domed steeple and clock.

A beautiful timber, wood-clad building built in 1809, the church is the oldest and grandest edifice on Nantucket. With a 109 foot tower and its clock and bells stroking the hours 156 times each day, it is visible (and audible) from nearly everywhere in the downtown area, while also serving as a navigational mark from the harbor.
