Low Float at Donovan’s Beach

Winthrop, MA

A daily vista for many residents driving out of town, this familiar red lobster boat has been moored at its dock for years, at one of the shallower edges of Winthrop’s inner harbor. The noticeable differential in tide levels created an intriguing visual contrast between the low water and such a large craft. The simple shapes & colors of the boats moored along the horizontal line of the wooden pier, and the broken reflections of a white head house and red hull, accentuated the water’s slick surface with the beach’s rough textures. The background shows the lush, verdant residential edge on the Boston side of the inlet.
