Hanson House SW Cornice
Cranford, NJ
The distinctive design of Cranford NJ’s historic Hanson House presented an ensemble of shapes, details, and colors. The active cloudscape of a breezy day was so compelling that the clouds became the principal element of nearly two thirds of the work; leaving only the upper roof, chimney, gable and cornice lines to define the presence of the house. Since the composition vignettes the upper portion of the house, its scale and height become ambiguous, conveying the sense of its historic character that seems more timeless with an eternal sky. Completed during “Paint The Town” Plein Air Event in Cranford.
