One of the bustling spots along a languid pond’s edge in Central Park, NYC, this spacious terrace affords restful views of water, sculpture, landscape and people. The gently flowing banner, an asymmetrically positioned vertical element, together with the narrow horizontal band of the plaza were the focal points of interest, set off by the lush landscape.

A wide variety of green colors in the trees and water surface presented the challenge for interpreting this vignette of New York’s treasured park. The sizable work was completed during a plein air competition event for Cranford,
