8 Hooper King Hooper Mansion

8 Hooper King Hooper Mansion - en plein air watercolor painting of building and architecture by Frank Costantino

Marblehead, MA

Inspired by Frank Benson’s and Samuel Chamberlain’s earlier drawings, this tightly composed view of the mansion’s facade portrays the classical presence of this historic structure. Given the location on a narrow street of Old Town, the painting process was timed to capture the limited exposure to sun and shadow. The building is now home to the 90 year old Marblehead Arts Association.
