Miss Ruth’s Stable

Mineral Spring Farm Claiborne, MD

A seldom experienced place for the artist, this small horse barn on farm estate in Claiborne, MD became a careful exercise in restraint for conveying the many nuances of white siding, shadows and shading and fencing. The elevational composition and palette almost suggested itself. The horse came into the stable late in the painting, but added a verifying element to the mid-ground area of the composition. Painted during the Plein Air Easton competition.
