Tilghman Island, MD
A recently restored bridge, connecting St. Michael’s Island to Tilghman Island, MD, the tracery of the lift bridge’s structure presented a steel geometry of engineering. In suggesting the delicate heft of the structure, the analogous color palette of blues and greens only needed a few contrasting highlights to covey the waterway passage. Since the lift bridge was in frequent operation during the work, the composition took a while to complete for the Easton Plein Air competition.
